What is Transgressive Behavior?
Transgressive behavior occurs when someone causes harm to another person on a physical, mental, or emotional level. This can manifest as sexual harassment or even sexual abuse, bullying, discrimination, or aggression.
Transgressive behavior is often linked to power dynamics. When two people hold different positions of power, equality is not present. The person with less power may find it more difficult to set boundaries, as they are dependent on the one with more power. For example, this may happen if a dance teacher makes sexually suggestive comments to a dancer. If the dancer expresses discomfort, they are taking a risk.
It is important to know that transgressive behavior is never your fault and is always wrong, even if it happens only once.
