Alliantie Dans Veilig held a successful first Knowledge Day at the beautiful location of the Akoesticum in Ede – take a look back with us!
The day began with a sweeping musical performance in which Mandy Sleijpen shared her personal perspective as a victim of sexual abuse. She spoke about the effect of victim-blaming, the trauma healing process and her efforts with her foundation “We Are M” to break the taboo around this topic.
Dare to see! Alliantie Dans Veilig emphasized this message during the opening plenary program – it applies in many situations, including within the culture of the dance sector. Mette Raaphorst then took the stage to talk about the role of confidentiality advisors in the cultural sector and how MORES acts as a safety net for anyone who encounters transgressive behavior.
We then split into workshops:
- Bystander intervention training by Genesis Yagual of Fairspace
- Legal advice by Rosalie Tamminga
- Non-violent communication by Suzan Tolsma
- The Undercurrent by Margriet Dantuma
In the afternoon, the panelists of the round-table discussed in depth with the participants in the room the challenges and the need for lasting change to make the dance sector socially safe for both current and future generations.
Members of the expert groups then set to work in several meetings to start working on concrete action points. The day ended with a networking reception, where new contacts were made and we looked back on the day together.
Our thanks to all speakers, participants and organizations for creating a safe environment and your valuable contributions to an open dialogue.
