urgent help
  • There is currently no hallmark you can show to demonstrate your commitment to a socially safe dance sector. Dansbelang has a quality register for dance teachers. However, there are a number of things you can do to show that you pay attention to this issue
    • Make sure you follow courses and training that contribute to pedagogical and didactic skills and/or in which you learn how to ensure that your classes are socially safe.
    • Make sure you are aware of the code of conduct and house rules within the organization(s) where you teach. Communicate that you think it is important that these are in place. If an organization does not have these in order, you can point them to the Handreiking sociale veiligheid op dansscholen (Guide to Social Safety at Dance Schools), which also contributes to a safe working environment for you.
    • Take reports and incidents seriously, know what to do or not to do when you receive a signal of transgressive behavior.
    • Avoid one-on-one situations with students without others around.
